Miguel Hernandez released the lead single, “Porteñita,” from his upcoming sixth album on Thursday.
“‘Porteñita’ is a feel good, hit the dance floor, ready for the weekend kind of song,” Hernandez told Tejano Nation. “The song speaks of falling in love with a girl from a harbor port.”
The catchy cumbia, originally a 1984 hit song performed by Los Humildes and composed by Homero Aguilar, was produced by Hernandez. It’s the first release from his upcoming sixth studio album, Inspiración, scheduled to be released in September 2018.
Emerging in 2003 with his self-titled debut album, Hernandez’s unique blend of lyrics and musical diversity allowed him a spot on the Billboard charts and notoriety throughout the United States and Mexico.
