The surprise appearance happened during Sting’s 57th and 9th World Tour, which features opening band The Last Bandoleros, the band that includes Navaira’s nephews Emilio and Diego Navaira.

Details of the appearance were posted on Facebook by Crooked Little Halos, a page dedicated the appreciation of The Last Bandoleros, “As usual, The Last Bandoleros participated in Sting‘s set by singing background vocals and playing percussion. But, last night there was a special surpise. When Emilio came out to solo on the snare during “Desert Rose” (as he does most nights on the tour), his (and Diego’s) uncle Raulito Navaira jumped up with them and danced his trademark moves which he developed while performing with his brother Emilio Navaira (Diego’s and Emilio’s dad).”

Emilio and Diego’s father, Tejano music legend Emilio Navaira, passed away one year ago this week of natural causes at the age of 53.
