Tejano music legend Jessy Serrata, who was taken to a Harlingen hospital earlier this week, has been diagnosed with cancer.
The 63-year-old was admitted into the hospital on April 24, where tests confirmed that Serrata has stage 3 kidney cancer, according to sources.
The singer will be transferred to a cancer treatment center in Houston, where he will undergo surgery and treatment to fight the cancer.
Serrata, also known as “Mr. Iron Throat,” has appeared on over 17 albums and was nominated for a Latin Grammy in 2004 for his album Better Than Ever.
