Thousands of Selena fans braved the South Texas sun for hours Saturday for a chance to experience what it might have been like to meet the Tejano superstar.
Madame Tussauds Hollywood loaned a wax figure of Selena so fans attending the Fiesta de la Flor festival could snap a selfie without having to take a trip to California.
While the gesture saved attendees money, there wasn’t much time saved. Festival officials have estimated the wait was more than three hours long within minutes of the main gates opening Saturday. The wait was expected to near seven hours for some guests later in the day.
