Tejano Hall of Famer Shelly Lares released her latest single “Mi Moreno” on Tuesday (Feb. 14).

“Mi Moreno” was written by Raymond Everett and Jackie De La Garza and arranged by Lares. She also produced the track with Sevy Contreras at Slackmonster Studios in San Antonio.

“I wanted something more geared for the club or just a jam you turn up in your car,” Lares told Tejano Nation about her latest track. “I really enjoyed the timbale solo ’cause fans have always loved watching me play live.”

The upbeat cumbia from Little Miss Dynamite is the third single off her upcoming album scheduled for release at the end of April or early May.

“This CD has taken awhile because of the loss of my father but now I’m focused…energized and ready to continue to arrange and produce the rest of my new CD,” Lares said.

Shelly’s father, Fred Lares, who passed away in July 2016, was very instrumental in the success of his daughter’s career from the beginning, helping her garner many hits, awards and much more throughout the years.
