Tejano star AJ Castillo was honored by his hometown of Austin, Texas, the “Live Music Capital of the World,” with AJ Castillo Day on Thursday (September 1).

Mayor Steve Adler made the proclamation during a ceremony at Austin City Hall.
“Because Austin audiences support good music, produced by legends, our local favorites, and newcomers alike. And whereas we are pleased to showcase and support our local artists. Now, therefore, I, Steve Adler, mayor of the Live Music Capital, do hereby proclaim, September 1st of the year 2016, as AJ Castillo Day.”
The singer was thankful for the honor.
“Thank you to The City of Austin and Mayor Adler for having me today. I have been blessed beyond belief. Today my home town of Austin declared it ‘AJ Castillo’ day,” Castillo posted on Facebook. “I am so thankful to my family and all of you who always support me. I owe everything to God. He is the reason for my success. I don’t take any of this for granted and am so lucky he allows me to do what I love. Thank you.”
Castillo has been thrilling fans with his accordion and voice since his debut album, Who I Am, was released in 2009.
