Fans of Grammy and Tejano Music Award Winner Emilio Navaira gathered at the historic Market Square in San Antonio to pay tribute to the fallen star on Friday (May 20).
Hundreds of fans were in attendance and held candles and Emilio memorabilia in honor of the Tejano star.
The brother and nephew of the late singer, Raul Navaira and Rigo Navaira, made an appearance on Friday to thank the public for their love and continued support during this difficult time.
“I just want to say, my brother will never die and I am just so overwhelmed with all the love that I feel right now because of all of you,” Raul Navaira said. “Pray for my mom because she is really broken.”
Many Tejano Artists were also on hand to perform an intimate set for the crowd. Costumbre performed their hit song “Estar Enamorado,” a duet with Emilio Navaira. Art Tigerina, Los Desperadoz, Sunny Sauceda and Javier Galvan were also in attendance to celebrate the life of Emilio Navaira.
A public visitation will be held on Sunday, May 22nd at Freeman Coliseum, from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. and a rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. A Mass in memory of the Tejano star is set for Monday, May 23rd at San Fernando Cathedral at 1 p.m. in San Antonio, Texas.
